Acro / Gymnastics

4 years upwards

Artistic gymnastics discipline blended with the musicality of dance — strength, flexibility and acrobatic skill, taught progressively on proper equipment.

Acro and gymnastics students training at Dancemania Witney

This is not a typical dance class. It is aligned much more closely with artistic gymnastics, and it is taught that way. Our Acro and Gymnastics classes are taught by Coach Harriet on Mondays and Saturdays, and Coach Megan on Thursdays.

Students work across three pillars: strength, flexibility, and acrobatic skill developed through a progressive syllabus. We use vault for explosive power and spatial awareness, beam for balance and poise, and an air track for tumbling and aerial work in a more forgiving environment. Our tumble mat means complicated skills are practised safely rather than attempted in a back garden.

It suits dancers who want acrobatic depth in their movement, gymnasts who want artistry in their skills, and anyone who simply wants to get strong.

What to expect
  • Strength — full-body conditioning, especially core and upper body, to support safe and powerful movement.
  • Flexibility — dynamic and static stretching to improve range, lines and mobility.
  • Acrobatic skill development following the Acrotrix syllabus, progressing step by step through individual and partner skills.
  • Vault, beam and air track work, plus a tumble mat so skills like back flips are learned in a secure environment.
What to wear

A fitted purple leotard, optional black cycle shorts with Dancemania logo, bare feet and hair tied back securely.

Nothing needs to be bought before a trial class. A T-shirt and shorts are perfectly fine for the trial session.
