Musical Theatre

6 years upwards

Acting, singing and dancing in one class, training the triple threat that Performing Arts schools and West End auditions actually ask for.

“Triple threat” is the industry’s term for a performer who can act, sing and dance to a professional standard. It is what Performing Arts schools look for and what auditions are built around, and it is very hard to pick up later if you have only ever trained in one of the three.

So we train all three together. Professional examinations are available with the British Theatre Dance Association, and the skills travel a long way beyond the stage — confidence, projection, listening, and the ability to stand in front of a room of people and be understood.

There is a free trial class, which is the honest way to find out whether a child who loves dancing also loves performing.

What to expect
  • Acting work — character building, mime, improvisation and thinking skills.
  • Vocal exercises for both speaking and singing.
  • Choreography and staging drawn from musical theatre repertoire.
  • Trust exercises, concentration games and ensemble work that build a company, not just a class.
What to wear

Comfortable clothes you can move in, plus jazz shoes. Bring water and a voice you do not mind using.

Nothing needs buying before a trial class — come in whatever your dancer can move in comfortably.
