Lyrical & Contemporary
8 years upwards
The style where technique meets storytelling. A collaborative form drawing on modern, jazz, ballet and hip hop, danced for the meaning as much as the movement.
Lyrical dance combines elements of ballet, jazz and expressive choreography, creating beautiful movement that connects with the music. Dancers use the lyrics and emotion of each song to tell a story, bringing the music to life through movement, expression and performance.
Contemporary is a collaborative style — it borrows from modern, jazz, ballet and hip hop and refuses to sit still in any of them.
It tends to arrive at the right moment for teenagers, who suddenly have something they want to say and no obvious way to say it. This is the class where they find one.
